7/9/2012 4:31 AM
The 2012 Georgia Downtown Conference, sponsored by the Georgia Downtown Association in partnership with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, the City of LaGrange and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Historic Preservation Division, is scheduled to take place in LaGrange, Georgia, August 22nd-24th. The conference is designed to further educate individuals on issues affecting downtown development on a national and statewide level, reinforce existing downtown development efforts, and help downtown development organizations plan for future initiatives.
Educational sessions, tours, and networking events will ensure an enlightening conference experience. Speakers from across Georgia will be on-hand to provide the best possible resources for enhancing downtown. Further, this year’s conference will partner with the Historic Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to offer Historic Preservation Commission training in conjunction with the downtown tracks. This training will meet the training requirement for Certified Local Governments in Georgia.
A highlight of the conference will be the Awards for Downtown Excellence ceremony where the accomplishments of those organizations and individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and improvement in Georgia’s downtowns will be celebrated. Individuals who have successfully completed GDA’s Professional Development Program will also be honored during the Awards Ceremony.
Special reduced rates are available for GDA members and state designated Better Hometown and Main Street cities. The registration deadline is August 16, 2012. For more information and to register, visit 2012 Georgia Downtown Conference.
