Holiday Inn Express, FayettevilleHome | Downtown Success | New Buildings | Fayetteville Facing the historic city square and one of Georgia's oldest courthouses, this hotel could easily have been a visual intrusion. Instead it shows how a new building can be a good neighbor.
For example, the front lawn and large shade trees are similar to those found in front of local historic houses. The porches and dormers are also suggestive of old homes while staying appropriate to a hotel. Vehicles are parked in a landscaped parking lot at the side of the building away from the square. An especially important feature is the appropriated scaled sign; because traffic moves by at slow speeds, there is no need for a huge sign scaled for high-speed motorists.
