Faced with a tiny downtown and massive growth (the population grew by 260 percent during the 1990s), the Gwinnett County town of Suwanee decided to build a new town center on a 63-acre site at the intersection of its two principal roads. The new complex features retail and office spaces on the ground floors with residences above. Some 85 single-family homes and 116 townhomes are a five-minute walk away.
